MGS Delta: Snake Eater Retains Original's Suggestive Content, Rating Indicates

Author : Brooklyn May 13,2025

The upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has sparked conversations regarding its inclusion of the suggestive and sexual content found in the original Metal Gear Solid 3. Notably, the controversial Peep Demo Theatre feature is reportedly making a return, as highlighted by the game's age rating from the ESRB.

Although developer Konami has yet to officially confirm the retention of these elements, the U.S. classification board, the ESRB, has assigned Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater a Mature 17+ rating. This rating is attributed to the game's realistic depiction of gunfire, cries of pain, and bloody combat, alongside the "suggestive/sexual content." The ESRB's detailed report on the game's content includes instances of violence such as a restrained character being beaten and electrocuted, a character being shot in the eye, and another being shot multiple times while on fire.

Moreover, the ESRB notes specific instances of "suggestive/sexual content" within the game, such as a man groping a woman's breasts, close-up camera angles focusing on deep cleavage, a brief scene of a character groping a man's crotch, and the Peep Demo Theatre. This feature, which first appeared in the Subsistence and HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 3, allows players to view cutscenes featuring a female character in her underwear from a first-person perspective, unlocked after completing the game four times.

Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28, accompanied by a new teaser trailer that also announced the return of the Snake vs. Monkey minigame.

In IGN's Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, the game was described as more of a "very shiny HD remaster" than a full-fledged remake, with a focus on the new first-person perspective for Snake. The review suggests that while the game offers a beautiful nostalgia trip, it remains almost too faithful to the original. The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was highly acclaimed, receiving an impressive score of 9.6 from IGN.
