Captain America: Brave New World Is One of the Shortest Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

Author : Joseph May 13,2025

"Captain America: Brave New World" marks a significant milestone as the shortest film in the Captain America series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), clocking in at a brisk one hour and 58 minutes. This runtime positions it as one of the few MCU films to fall under the two-hour mark and the seventh shortest out of the 35 films in the franchise. Historically, all three previous Captain America movies exceeded the two-hour duration, setting a different pace for the series.

The MCU's shorter films are predominantly found in its earlier phases, Phases 1 and 2. However, recent releases like "The Marvels" in 2022, with a runtime of one hour and 45 minutes, have continued this trend. Other brief entries in the MCU include "The Incredible Hulk," "Thor: The Dark World," "Thor," "Doctor Strange," and "Ant-Man."

"Captain America: Brave New World" is set to hit theaters soon, sharing its runtime of one hour and 58 minutes with "Ant-Man and The Wasp." In contrast, the longest MCU film, "Avengers: Endgame," runs for three hours and one minute, followed by "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Eternals," and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

Scheduled for release on February 14, "Brave New World" has reportedly undergone numerous rewrites and reshoots, including scenes involving WWE star Seth Rollins. However, the impact of these changes on the film's final runtime remains uncertain.

This film marks a new chapter for the Captain America series, as it introduces Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson taking up the mantle following Chris Evans' Steve Rogers' retirement. Mackie has assured fans that "Brave New World" will uphold the series' tradition of grounded, espionage-driven storytelling.

Additionally, "Brave New World" is set to delve into deeper Marvel lore, including the long-awaited introduction of The Leader, a character teased in "The Incredible Hulk," the second MCU film. The movie will also feature the Red Hulk, further expanding the universe's roster of iconic characters.
