"Split Fiction Surpasses 2 Million Sales in One Week"

Author : Christopher May 06,2025

Hazelight Games announced that their latest cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, has continued its impressive sales trajectory by selling 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S platforms, the game has solidified its position as a major success for the studio. In a social media post, Hazelight expressed their astonishment and gratitude towards the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio previously reported that Split Fiction achieved 1 million sales merely 48 hours after its debut, showcasing the rapid popularity of Mio and Zoe’s sci-fi narrative. This means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, highlighting the game's sustained appeal.

As a cooperative game, Split Fiction likely boasts a player base significantly larger than the number of units sold, thanks to its innovative Friend’s Pass feature. This allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play at no extra cost, further expanding its reach and engagement within the gaming community. As the game continues to generate buzz on social media, the sales figures are expected to grow even further.

Hazelight’s previous hit, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar path to success. It sold approximately 1 million copies shortly after its March 2021 launch, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as “an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another,” further cementing its acclaim among critics and players alike.
