Dead by Daylight Reveals Five Nights at Freddy's Chapter

Author : Camila Dec 08,2025

Behaviour Interactive has provided an in-depth look at its new Killer, Springtrap, showcasing how his unique abilities will resonate with Five Nights at Freddy's fans upon the launch on June 17, 2025, in Dead by Daylight.

Ahead of the upcoming Chapter's public test build (PTB), Behaviour has shared new details about this horror crossover with IGN. This deep dive covers the first specifics about Springtrap's powers, inspired by the classic Five Nights at Freddy's games, following his initial reveal earlier this month. It also explains how the slow-moving animatronic will introduce a jump scare mechanic that's entirely new to Behaviour's asymmetrical horror title.

The studio has indicated that this highly anticipated crossover Chapter is set to be "one of the game's largest to date." This is largely due to Springtrap, a stalking, axe-wielding yellow rabbit known within Dead by Daylight as The Animatronic. Although the menacing villain holds a complex and lengthy history in Five Nights at Freddy's lore, he has never been a playable character before, giving Behaviour the creative freedom to reinterpret what fans believe they know about him.

Springtrap's primary weapon is a giant pizza knife, while his Power utilizes a fire axe. The axe proves to be the more versatile tool, functioning as an area-of-effect weapon that reveals Survivors' locations to the Killer. A well-timed throw can lodge the axe in another player's back, creating an opportunity for a classic Five Nights at Freddy's-style jump scare when Springtrap retrieves it.

Enhancing the authenticity, Behaviour has incorporated the voice and likeness of Five Nights at Freddy's movie star Matthew Lillard for The Animatronic's Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional cosmetics for Springtrap include the Legendary Glitchtrap outfit, along with the Very Rare Clown Springtrap and Toxic Springtrap outfits. Survivors also receive Freddy Fazbear-themed t-shirts.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Comes to Dead by Daylight

While Springtrap fulfills a long-standing request from Dead by Daylight fans for a new Killer, he represents only one aspect of the new Chapter. Although no new Survivor is introduced, players can experience the terror of fleeing through the new Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria map. This location features a meticulously recreated version of the iconic pizza restaurant, complete with unsettling twists introduced by The Entity.

Key areas in the new map include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall. Freddy's band members, such as Bonnie and Chica, are also present. Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria offers another chilling environment for players to navigate, complete with its own Easter eggs and jump scares. The full extent of its secrets will be uncovered once players can explore it for themselves.

Fortunately, players won't be restricted to the new map to experience classic Five Nights at Freddy's gameplay elements. On any map where Springtrap is the pursuer, new security doors, cameras, and a special office will appear. These features are not just nostalgic callbacks; Survivors can actively use them to monitor Springtrap's movements, provided they have sufficient battery power.

For those eager to try Springtrap without waiting, the Five Nights at Freddy's Chapter PTB is available today starting at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET. If you prefer to experience the complete Chapter, which includes various quality-of-life improvements and additional content, the full release is scheduled for next month.
