Hearthstone is gearing up for the Year of the Raptor, with 2025 packed full of exciting surprises, fresh gameplay, and innovative features. The familiar triple dose of expansions, Mini-Sets, and Battlegrounds seasons are all on the horizon.
The Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set was also very well-received, and Blizzard appears enthusiastic about sustaining the excitement throughout the year. They've even shared a roadmap offering a glimpse into the game’s near future.
What Does the Year of the Raptor Bring to Hearthstone?
A significant upcoming update is for the Arena mode. In development since last year, it's now finally set to launch. While Arena has been a staple since Hearthstone’s early days, this overhaul aims to attract a new generation of players.
Cosmetics are also getting significant attention. Look forward to new Mythic skins, Signature cards, and something entirely new: Pets. These little companions will be part of a new cosmetic acquisition system, though Blizzard hasn't revealed all the specifics yet.
The Year of the Raptor officially begins with the first expansion, Into the Emerald Dream. Card reveals start next week, but in-game celebrations are already underway. By completing the Event Track, you can earn rewards such as The Great Dark Beyond Epic cards, new expansion packs, and a Raptor Herald card.
On that subject, take a look at this promotional video Blizzard released.
What Else Is Coming?
A new evolving game board is also launching with the expansion. The Year of the Raptor board will remain in Hearthstone for the entire year, receiving visual and audio updates with each new expansion.
Finally, the Core Set is being refreshed as well. Some classic cards are returning with minor adjustments, and new cards are being introduced. With so much on the way, perhaps it's the perfect time to dive back into the game. Download it from the Google Play Store if you haven't already!
