Activision's Decision to Cancel

Despite positive fan reaction to the revealed material, Activision axed "The Invincible Iron Man" shortly after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team jobless. Many commenters noted the stark contrast between the game's Iron Man design and the later MCU portrayal by Robert Downey Jr. The game's design, predating the MCU by almost five years, closely resembled the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version from the early 2000s. Edwards stated the design was the artist's decision.
