"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Original Game's Iconic Line Mistake"

Author : Penelope May 06,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda's most cherished titles, enhancing it with stunning visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, amidst these updates, the team at Virtuos made a point to preserve one of the original's most beloved quirks.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series will fondly remember Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion first graced PC and Xbox 360 screens over 19 years ago, it was evident that Tandilwe herself could benefit from some speech training. Her voice line, featuring a flub by actress Linda Kenyon, became an iconic mishap that fans adored.

As players embarked on their journey through the revitalized world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to assess the authenticity of the ground-up remaster. While numerous environments, character models, and items have been beautifully revamped, fans have been delighted to find that many of the original's charming imperfections remain. Tandilwe's amusing blooper, in particular, has been a joyful discovery for many, preserved in its original, subtitle-free glory.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon humorously defended herself against the blooper's fame, stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players diving into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered are debating whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster, others are simply thrilled to see much of its original charm and quirks remain largely untouched. This commitment to preserving the essence of the original game was a deliberate choice by Bethesda and Virtuos, and it's resonating well with both new and returning players.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion surprise launched yesterday for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S.
