Capcom recently shared a pre-release update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console performance, weapon adjustments, and a significant reduction in minimum PC specifications. The video update, featuring director Yuya Tokuda, followed the conclusion of the Open Beta Test (OBT).
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with a patch optimizing performance for the PS5 Pro. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K, 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p, 60fps) modes. The Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p, 30fps. A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been resolved, resulting in noticeable performance improvements. While enhanced visuals are promised for the PS5 Pro version, specific details remain undisclosed.
Lowered PC Minimum Specs Incoming
While initial PC specs were previously released, Capcom confirmed efforts to lower the minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Further details will be revealed closer to launch. The possibility of a PC benchmark tool is also under consideration.
Second Open Beta Test Under Review
A second open beta test is being considered, primarily to allow players who missed the first opportunity to experience the game. However, this potential second beta will not include the improvements and adjustments detailed in the recent update; these will be exclusive to the full release.
The stream also covered refinements to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon balancing adjustments, with particular focus on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
